Im looking at buying a vintage chanel, but the quilted leather is in squares not diamonds, has anyone seen?

Also the “chanel” printed inside the flap doent have an R after it? Im not sure but the lady guarantees authenticity?
Was there a Chanel bag made in a quilted flap in squares not the diamond shape?
